Pakistan police have arrested Aleema Khan, sister of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, from her residence in Lahore, just days before the Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf (PTI) party’s planned protest march on September 27.
The arrest was confirmed by a PTI Punjab spokesman, who said Aleema was taken into custody on Sunday. The development adds to mounting pressure on Imran Khan’s family and the party ahead of the “Justice March,” announced by PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan.
Authorities have also detained several PTI activists in Islamabad, citing attempts to organise the demonstration. Police said the arrests were part of security preparations before the march.
Imran Khan, the World Cup‑winning former cricket captain and ex‑prime minister, has been imprisoned for more than three years. His family has repeatedly raised concerns about his health and alleged political conspiracy.
The specific grounds for Aleema Khan’s arrest have not yet been disclosed. PTI leaders insist the mobilisation will go ahead, linking it to demands for Khan’s release and judicial reforms.
