President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday extended her warm greetings to the people of the country, especially the people of Odisha, on the occasion of Nuakhai, the agriculture‑based community festival of western Odisha.
Nuakhai, which marks the offering of the first harvest of the new crop to the deity, holds deep cultural significance in western Odisha and adjoining regions. The festival is being celebrated across the region with fanfare, bringing families and communities together.
In her message, President Murmu said Nuakhai is not merely a traditional festival but also a symbol of social and familial bonding expressed through community feasts and gatherings of friends and relatives.
“I believe that through this festival, mutual harmony and unity will be further strengthened,” she stated, underlining the cultural importance of the celebration.
Concluding her message, the President wished everyone happiness, peace, and prosperity on the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai, reinforcing the festival’s role in promoting harmony and collective joy.
