Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay was seen running towards actor Ajith Kumar and embracing him at the Silverstone Racing Circuit in the UK. The heartwarming moment, captured on video, has gone viral on social media.
Ajith personally welcomed Vijay at the venue ahead of the Silverstone round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup. Vijay is in the UK to support Ajith during his racing outing and is also set to officially wave the green flag at the event.
Vijay-Ajith moment delights fans
The meeting has attracted considerable attention as fans have long compared the two stars and portrayed them as rivals. However, Ajith and Vijay have maintained a cordial relationship spanning more than two decades.
Videos from Silverstone showed Ajith greeting Vijay as he arrived at the circuit. One clip captured Vijay running towards Ajith before the two shared a warm hug, prompting a strong reaction from fans online.
Radhika Sarathkumar, Trisha add to Silverstone buzz
The Silverstone weekend has also been drawing attention among Tamil film fans after actors Radhika Sarathkumar and Trisha Krishnan shared updates from London.
Radhika shared a selfie with Trisha and wished Ajith ahead of his race. The two actors are in London for a film shoot.
Radhika also shared a video from her meeting with Ajith at the Silverstone Circuit, praising his passion, dedication and focus.
Ajith was also seen interacting with fans at the venue. In one video, he gestured to excited fans to lower their voices and asked them not to scream as he stepped out of his car.
Ajith’s Silverstone race and Vijay’s role
Ajith, who has continued to pursue motorsport alongside his acting career, is competing in the LMP3 Pro/Am category for Ajith RedAnt by Virage alongside French driver Romain Vozniak.
The event will also feature an all-Indian pairing, with former Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan and Aditya Patel racing for Ajith RedAnt Racing in the LMP3 class.
The race organisers confirmed Vijay’s presence at Silverstone, saying he would support the Indian drivers and officially start the Silverstone Round in front of the 44-car grid.
The Silverstone event is the fifth round of the 2026 championship and is scheduled from 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM IST on Saturday.
Ajith on Vijay’s Silverstone visit
Speaking about Vijay’s visit, Ajith said his longtime film-industry colleague was taking time out of his busy schedule to attend the event.
Ajith also expressed hope that India, particularly Chennai, could eventually host events from the Le Mans series.
He said efforts were being made to promote sports across disciplines, including motorsport, and that he was glad Vijay had accepted the invitation to understand the logistical and infrastructure requirements for hosting such events in India.
Ajith added that his wish was to see such races come to India so that drivers could compete on home soil.
Vijay’s Silverstone visit comes shortly after he unveiled a development roadmap for Chennai that included proposals for dedicated Olympic and motorsport cities in the state capital.
