A Bolero carrying 8 workers plunged 20 feet off the road near Khadaka forest in Nabarangpur district, leaving 5 critically injured and 3 escaping unharmed, today.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 8:00 AM. A Mahindra Bolero, carrying a driver and seven tower construction workers, was travelling from Nabarangpur to Koksara in Kalahandi district for work.
While navigating the stretch near Khadaka forest, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The Bolero turned sharply off the roadway and tumbled into a 20-foot gorge.
Out of the eight individuals present in the vehicle, five workers suffered severe injuries during the crash. The remaining three occupants escaped without any injuries and are reported to be safe.
An ambulance was dispatched to the scene after local passersby alerted emergency services, and all five injured workers were transported to the Papadahandi Medical Facility, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Medical officials confirmed that all five are receiving intensive care.
Upon receiving the information, a team from the Maidalpur Police Station arrived at the site to secure the area and clear the wreckage. Police have registered a case and initiated a formal investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
