Ahead of the festive season, the Commissionerate Police has announced strict measures to ensure the smooth conduct of Ganesh Puja and other upcoming celebrations.

Key directives include a ban on toran construction across public roads, prohibition of DJ systems during processions and immersions, and a 10 pm deadline for all cultural programmes. Police warned that violations will invite immediate action.

Zone ACPs Ramesh Chandra Bisoi and Manas Ranjan Pradhan informed that all Puja Committees have been briefed. PCR vans will patrol regularly, and 30 platoons of force will be deployed across the city. More than 330 applications for Ganesh Puja have been received this year.

The guidelines were discussed at the Ganesh Puja preparatory meeting held at 1 pm in Ekamra Hall, BMC Head Office, attended by representatives of all line departments, traffic police, fire services, and Commissionerate Police.

Bhadrak Shanti Committee President Madhumadhab Jena welcomed the move, urging that the rules be enforced strictly through Dussehra to maintain peace and order.
