IndiGo Airlines will resume direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Bangkok from October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti).
The service, which had been suspended since July 18, will now operate twice a week — every Friday from Bhubaneswar and every Saturday from Bangkok. Ticket bookings have already opened, with fares starting at around ₹16,000.
Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan confirmed the development, noting that the route had previously witnessed strong passenger demand, with seat vacancy rates as low as 15–19%. The resumption is expected to benefit both business and tourism sectors, while reducing travel time and costs for passengers who were earlier forced to fly via Kolkata.
Experts said the revival of the Bangkok route will strengthen Odisha’s global connectivity and support growth in tourism, hospitality, trade, and industry. While services to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Singapore remain suspended, the Bangkok flight offers a renewed lifeline for international travellers from the state.
