Season 2 of Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent is streaming on Netflix, with the latest episode featuring Varun Dhawan, Medha Shankr, Nishant Tanwar and Sharon Verma.
The episode also featured Ahmedabad-based contestant Vijay Poriya, who tried to entertain the panel with jokes about flights and dogs. However, when he appeared to steer his answer towards the 2025 Ahmedabad plane crash, Samay Raina quickly intervened.
Samay Raina stops plane crash reference
During the episode, Samay asked Vijay why he was scared of flights and jokingly suggested that they might be expensive.
Vijay initially responded before referring to an incident from about a year earlier. As he appeared to begin making a joke related to the Ahmedabad plane crash, Samay interrupted him.
“Can you give a different answer that we can keep?” Samay asked before repeating the question about Vijay’s fear of flights.
Vijay then changed his response, joking that flights were “quite expensive”, prompting laughter from the panel and audience.
The exchange came more than a year after an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12, 2025. The crash killed nearly all people aboard the aircraft as well as people on the ground.
Samay Raina says he cannot perform in Ahmedabad
The episode also touched upon Samay Raina’s own difficulties performing in Ahmedabad.
After his set, Vijay asked Samay to encourage viewers to attend live comedy shows in Ahmedabad. Samay responded that he had not been able to perform there.
“Mera khud ka show nahi ho pa raha hai Ahmedabad mein,” Samay said, appealing to Ahmedabad authorities to allow him to perform in the city.
He added that he loved performing in Gujarat.
Varun Dhawan appeared surprised and asked whether Samay had not performed in Gujarat. Samay said he had not received permission to perform there over the past year.
Varun then offered to help him, to which Samay jokingly replied, “To phir chup rehna”, drawing laughter from the episode.
India’s Got Latent returns on Netflix
The second season of India’s Got Latent marks the show’s return after its controversial run in 2025.
Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchalani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Mukhija and Ranveer Allahbadia faced legal action following a controversial episode that led to allegations of promoting obscenity. FIRs were registered and the controversy also sparked debate over regulation of online content.
The original videos and the show were subsequently removed from YouTube. The format later returned with Season 2 on Netflix.
The latest episode has once again drawn attention online, particularly for Samay’s decision to stop a joke that appeared to reference the Ahmedabad plane crash.
