A massive fire broke out at a dairy factory under the Jagatpur Industrial Area in Kataka district on Thursday, gutting property worth lakhs of rupees.
Fire tenders from Chauliaganj and Salipur rushed to the spot and managed to bring the flames under control. However, thick smoke inside the godown prevented the Fire Services department’s robotics machine from entering the premises.
The blaze was seen in thermocol, tin boxes, and AC units stored inside the warehouse. Preliminary suspicion suggests a short circuit may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause will be confirmed after investigation.
The extent of damage is yet to be fully assessed. Jagatpur Police reached the site and have begun a preliminary probe into the incident.
