Odisha’s Lok Bhavan, the Governor’s Office, has achieved the prestigious Platinum Green Campus Certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), making it the first Lok Bhavan in India to receive this honour.
Lok Bhavan scored 88 out of 100 points, placing it in the highest Platinum category under IGBC’s Green Campus Rating system. The recognition reflects Odisha’s commitment to sustainable governance and climate‑responsive public infrastructure.
The certification was awarded for integrating sustainability into campus planning, infrastructure, and daily operations. Lok Bhavan has adopted energy‑efficient systems, renewable energy use, water conservation, biodiversity protection, scientific waste management, sustainable mobility, and welfare measures for residents.
Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati hailed the achievement, stating, “When governance goes green, the future grows stronger.” He emphasised that the certification reflects Odisha’s commitment to responsible governance, efficient resource use, and a greener tomorrow, inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a clean and sustainable Viksit Bharat.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan described the milestone as a proud moment for Odisha and a new benchmark in India’s green journey. He highlighted Lok Bhavan’s integration of clean energy, water conservation, biodiversity protection, waste management, and eco‑friendly mobility as a model of sustainable governance.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling added that Lok Bhavan’s adoption of renewable energy, electric vehicles, rainwater harvesting, and green landscaping makes it a pioneering example of environmentally responsible infrastructure.
