The Special Crime Unit (SCU) of Bhubaneswar‑Kataka Police Commissionerate seized 305 grams of brown sugar and arrested one accused during a targeted operation near Bhotapada Village under Mancheswar Police Station limits.
The arrested individual has been identified as Sk Kefajudin @ Kala Babu (55), son of Sekh Hemarudin, a resident of Rajpur village, Jaleswar, Baleshwar district. Police recovered 300 grams of brown sugar, an OPPO A6x 5G mobile phone, and Rs 520 in cash from his possession.
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the SCU launched a surveillance operation targeting the brown sugar network operating in the Bhubaneswar region. The suspect was intercepted while attempting to conduct an illegal transaction.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused and several of his family members have prior involvement in multiple NDPS Act cases registered in Jaleswar and Balianta police stations. The SCU stated that the arrest marks a significant step toward dismantling organised narcotics networks in the region.
The accused will be produced before the court, and further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and financial links. Police have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities related to drug trafficking to the Special Crime Unit (landline 0674‑2916383, 10 AM – 8 PM).
