The Nasha Mukt Abhiyan has reached around 300 government schools across seven districts under Odisha’s Central Range, with authorities intensifying efforts to raise awareness among students about the dangers of drug and substance abuse.

As part of the campaign, Dr Satyajit Naik, IPS, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Central Range, Cuttack, participated in an anti-drug awareness programme held at government schools in Jagatsinghpur district on Monday.

He was accompanied by Jagatsinghpur Collector J Sonal, IAS, Jagatsinghpur SP Ankit Verma, IPS, and other senior officials.

Students urged to say no to drugs

The awareness programme focused on educating students about the harmful physical, psychological and social effects of drug and substance abuse.

Officials interacted with students and encouraged them to adopt a healthy, disciplined and drug-free lifestyle. They also highlighted the role young people can play in building a safer and healthier society.

Students were urged not only to stay away from drugs but also to create awareness among their peers and contribute to the goal of building a Nasha-Mukt Odisha.

Campaign covers 300 government schools

The anti-drug awareness campaign has seen participation from around 300 government schools across seven districts under the Central Range.

The initiative aims to create a wider network of awareness involving students, teachers and local communities, while strengthening preventive efforts against substance abuse.

Officials emphasised that prevention, awareness and community participation are essential to tackling the growing challenge of drug abuse.

Central Range Police stresses preventive policing

The Central Range Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening anti-drug awareness initiatives, preventive policing and community engagement, particularly among young people.

The campaign is being carried forward across Odisha as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, following the call for a drug-free India by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the leadership of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the direction of the Odisha Director General of Police.

The police said continued awareness among students and greater participation from communities will be crucial to creating a safer and healthier environment for the next generation.
