The Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Durga Prasad Sahu, Former Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Lapanga RI Circle under Rengali Tahasil, Sambalpur district.
Sahu, who had retired from service, was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting a bribe from an applicant in exchange for submitting a favourable report in a mutation case.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Sambalpur sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine. Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority to stop his pension benefits.
