Star Air Launches 24 Weekly Flights to Odisha, Direct Hyderabad–Bhubaneswar from 4 Sept

Bhubaneswar is about to sit closer to Hyderabad on the aviation map. Star Air, the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, will introduce 24 new weekly flights to Odisha from 4 September 2026, including a direct Hyderabad–Bhubaneswar service and the return of flights between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda.

The expansion is aimed at travellers who have long pieced together connections between Telangana and Odisha: executives shuttling between IT parks and industrial belts, students heading home, families planning temple circuits, and tourists chasing weekends in the east.

Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial and Marketing Officer at Star Air, said the new and restored services are meant to make the region easier to reach. “With the introduction of direct Hyderabad–Bhubaneswar flights and the reinstatement of our Bhubaneswar–Jharsuguda services, we are strengthening connectivity across Telangana and Odisha,” she said. “These services are designed to support the needs of business travellers, students, families, and leisure seekers alike.”

Hyderabad remains one of India’s busiest aviation gateways, anchored by Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and a dense cluster of IT, pharma, healthcare, education and corporate traffic. Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s capital, is both an administrative centre and the doorway to the state’s temple towns and growing business districts. A nonstop link between the two cities shortens a journey that often required a change of aircraft or a long surface trip.

The reinstated Bhubaneswar–Jharsuguda connection matters just as much on the ground. Jharsuguda is a western Odisha industrial hub; a reliable air link to the state capital is useful for industry, medical travel, education and government work. Restoring that sector after a gap should cut travel time for people who previously had few alternatives.

Tickets for the new and reinstated routes are already on sale at www.starair.in and on major travel platforms. The airline is urging early bookings so passengers can lock in dates around the 4 September start.

Star Air presents the move as more than extra frequencies. It is pitching the Telangana–Odisha corridor as a commercial and community link: Hyderabad as a launchpad for work and study, Bhubaneswar as a cultural and administrative capital, and Jharsuguda as an industrial stop that should not be left off the map. For a regional carrier built around connecting cities outside the usual metro pairs, 24 additional weekly flights is a visible bet that east–west demand is there if the schedule is simple enough.

Passengers planning travel from early September onward can now treat Hyderabad–Bhubaneswar as a direct option and Bhubaneswar–Jharsuguda as a restored one, rather than a missing piece in the network.
