A newborn baby girl was rescued after being abandoned under a bush near the main road in front of Charichhak Community Health Centre in Puri.
According to reports, a woman from the Kakatpur area, belonging to a minority community, had given birth at the health centre the previous day. On the evening of the same day, she allegedly absconded with the infant and left her under a bush opposite the centre before fleeing.
Local residents passing by heard the baby’s cries and rushed to rescue her. She was immediately admitted to Charichhak Community Health Centre, where doctors in the paediatric ward confirmed that she is in good health.
The infant has since been transferred to the District Child Welfare Centre for further care and protection.
