The Hirakud Dam authorities closed four more sluice gates on Friday. Following the closure, a total of 11 sluice gates will remain open — 7 on the left and 4 on the right.
As per the latest update, the present outflow from the reservoir is 2,07,141 cusecs, while the present spillway discharge is 1,73,613 cusecs.
Earlier, the dam authorities closed two sluice gates on Friday morning following a falling trend in the reservoir level.
Going by the 9 am update, the water level in the reservoir stood at 621.50 feet and was showing a falling trend. Currently, 15 sluice gates are operational, including 10 on the left spillway and 5 on the right spillway.
At 9 am, the average inflow into the reservoir was recorded at 2,59,805 cusecs with a rising trend, while the average outflow was 2,70,852 cusecs. Out of the total outflow, 2,36,790 cusecs is being released through the spillway, 31,182 cusecs through the power channel, 229 cusecs for industrial use and 2,651 cusecs through the canal system.
