Kangana Ranaut on Westernised Culture: ‘Don’t Normalise’ Body Counts

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has reacted strongly to the recent Bengaluru murder case involving a woman, her alleged lover, her husband and their five-year-old son.

In a social media post, Ranaut warned against what she described as the growing normalisation of casual attitudes towards relationships and said society should not become “desensitised” to violence.

Ranaut shared a report about the Bengaluru case on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday and linked the incident to what she called “westernised” ideas around relationships.

What Kangana Ranaut said

In her Instagram post, Ranaut said reports of people killing their partners had become increasingly common and questioned the impact of social pressures and changing relationship norms.

“Every other day news is full of such cases,” she wrote, referring to incidents involving partners killing one another.

She contrasted these cases with relationship practices in Western societies and argued that people should not simply adopt aspects of Western culture without considering their consequences.

Ranaut then warned against terms and behaviours such as “benching”, “ghosting”, “crumbing” and “body counts”, arguing that they could contribute to people becoming emotionally detached from relationships.

‘Don’t normalise it’

Ranaut’s post became particularly pointed when she addressed the idea of reducing relationships to sexual history.

“Don’t let this culture of benching, ghosting, crumbing, body counts to desensitise you. Don’t normalise it,” she wrote.

She added that treating human relationships as little more than “body counts” could have serious consequences.

“Once you are okay with human relations being reduced to mere body counts then don’t cry when you will be reduced to a dead body,” Ranaut said.

She ended her post by urging people to reject what she described as a “westernised culture” of viewing human relationships primarily through the lens of body counts.

“Get ready to troll me,” she added, before sharing a picture of a blue drum in another Instagram Story.

Kangana’s comments come amid CJP controversy

Ranaut’s latest remarks come amid controversy over several of her recent social media posts concerning young protesters associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement.

She had earlier described some Gen Z protesters as the “gutter generation”, questioning who was responsible for raising them. Her comments drew criticism from opposition leaders, CJP representatives and social media users.

Ranaut later struck a different tone, describing Gen Z as one of India’s biggest strengths and praising the younger generation as ambassadors of the country’s culture and identity.

Kangana Ranaut’s recent film

On the professional front, Ranaut was last seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, directed by Manoj Tapadia. The film is based on the story of nurses and hospital staff who helped save patients during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

The film began streaming on ZEE5 on August 14.
