Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida today inaugurated a five‑day training programme for the second batch of newly joined Child Welfare Committee (CWC) members at the State Institute for Women and Children (SIWC) Campus in Bhubaneswar.
A total of 58 members from 27 districts will undergo training under the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Parida reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to child rights and protection, stressing that the best interest of the child must remain central to every decision and intervention. She urged the newly inducted members to discharge their responsibilities with sensitivity, empathy, and dedication, while highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts among stakeholders.
The Deputy CM also interacted with the participants, gaining insights into their grassroots experiences and challenges in dealing with child welfare matters.
It is noteworthy that 78 members were trained in the first batch, equipping them with knowledge and orientation to effectively discharge their statutory responsibilities. The current programme aims to further strengthen the capacity of CWC members, focusing on a child‑sensitive, rights‑based approach to children in need of care and protection.
