In a decisive move to ensure no eligible beneficiary is left behind, the Odisha government has directed all district collectors to immediately clear a massive backlog of pending applications under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana.
Suresh Kumar Vashishth, Principal Secretary of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, has issued a strongly worded letter to every district collector, instructing them to complete the verification of all pending online applications by August 18.
As of August 12, a total of 63,848 online applications remain unverified. The majority of these applications are stuck at the block level under BSSO user IDs and in urban areas under MIO user IDs.
The department emphasized that the verification process is crucial not only to include genuine beneficiaries but also to weed out ineligible applicants and maintain a clean pension database.
Currently, 36,75,008 people across the state are already receiving pensions under the scheme. The government reiterated its commitment to ensure that every deserving citizen gets the support they are entitled to without unnecessary delay.
With the August 18 deadline approaching, district administrations are expected to swing into action to clear the pending cases on a priority basis.
