A midday meal incident at Naikula Tribal High School in Barkote block of Debagada district left four girl students seriously ill, prompting their admission to the district headquarters hospital on Wednesday.

According to reports, the students began feeling unwell shortly after consuming the midday meal served at the school. Initially, one student was rushed to the nearby Barkote Community Health Centre, but as three more students developed similar symptoms, all four were shifted to the district hospital.

Doctors confirmed that the students are under treatment and receiving oxygen support, with their condition being closely monitored.

Hospital sources said the students are responding to treatment, while district officials are expected to review the matter and take corrective measures.
