Odisha Kharif Paddy Procurement

The Odisha government has reviewed preparations for Kharif paddy procurement 2026‑27 and farmer registration at an Inter‑Ministerial Committee meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment.

The meeting, attended by Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Naik, and Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta, focused on ensuring transparent and hassle‑free registration for farmers.

Officials clarified that Agristack registration is not mandatory for the current season. Farmers can register through PACS, Common Service Centres, or assisted modes, and none will be denied the opportunity to sell paddy. Registration will remain open till October 2026.

The Agristack platform integrates farmer data to streamline access to government benefits. So far, over 6 lakh farmers have registered under the system. A separate guideline for sharecroppers is being prepared to address specific challenges.

Reviewing Rabi 2025‑26, the committee noted procurement of 20.46 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 3.63 lakh farmers, with ₹4,844 crore disbursed as MSP and input assistance.

For Kharif 2026‑27, 94,657 farmers have already registered for paddy sale, with Baleshwar district leading in enrolments. Awareness drives are underway at subdivision and panchayat levels to counter misinformation and assist farmers with applications.

The government reiterated its commitment that no farmer will be excluded from paddy procurement, ensuring smooth coordination among Agriculture, Food Supplies, Cooperation, and Revenue departments.
