Doctor Nisith Nisanth Malu, formerly the Block Public Health Officer and later Medical Officer at Talcher’s Sub-Divisional Hospital, has been convicted for bribery.

The Special Judge for Vigilance in Phulbani sentenced Dr. Malu to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine following charges of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000. This bribe was taken from a Multi-Purpose Health Worker in exchange for passing RCM and TA bills.

Registered under Berhampur Vigilance PS Case No.7 dated March 30, 2021, the case was investigated under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Odisha Vigilance has announced its intention to request the dismissal of Dr. Malu from his position as Medical Officer. This conviction underscores Odisha’s commitment to rooting out corruption within public services.
