Trump Says Deal Parameters Agreed to End Iran Conflict, Pauses New US Military Strikes

US President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that key parameters for a deal to end the five-month-long Iran conflict had been agreed upon, prompting the United States to temporarily suspend planned military action against Tehran. Trump said the proposed agreement could include reopening the Strait of Hormuz and addressing concerns over Iran’s nuclear programme.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States was fully prepared to launch a large-scale military operation against Iran but decided to delay further action after receiving assurances that negotiations had made significant progress. He described the US military as “locked and loaded” while emphasizing that diplomacy had been given another opportunity.

According to Trump, Iran and several Middle Eastern countries requested Washington to postpone any attack after reaching the framework of a possible agreement. He claimed the proposed deal would ensure the “immediate, complete and total” reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important global shipping route, while also addressing what he described as Iran’s nuclear threat.

Trump further stated that Israel had agreed to support the decision to pause military action, expressing hope that negotiations would lead to a lasting resolution. He added that the cancellation of planned strikes remains conditional on the successful conclusion of a formal agreement.

The latest remarks come after heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran following an alleged Iranian attack on a US military base in Jordan earlier this week. Speaking to reporters on Friday, Trump reiterated that the United States would respond firmly if necessary, while maintaining that a diplomatic solution remained preferable.

Meanwhile, the White House accused Iran of violating an earlier understanding with Washington. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt alleged that Tehran breached commitments by targeting commercial shipping and carrying out attacks that resulted in the deaths of American soldiers.

Amid the ongoing tensions, the US State Department has issued fresh security advisories for American citizens across Bahrain, Israel, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The advisory warns travellers to prepare for possible flight disruptions, temporary airspace closures and heightened security risks across the region.
