Indian judokas scripted history at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh clinched the country’s first‑ever gold medals in the sport, while Yamini Mourya added a silver to cap India’s finest judo campaign since the discipline was introduced in 1990.

Asmita, 23, from Tripura, became the first Indian judoka to win CWG gold, defeating Canada’s Heidi Quach in the women’s –48kg final after a dramatic golden score period. Minutes later, Harsh, also 23, stunned Australia’s Olympian Joshua Katz in the men’s –60kg final with a decisive waza‑ari, becoming India’s first male CWG judo champion.

Their twin triumphs ended a three‑decade wait for a Commonwealth Games judo title. Yamini Mourya narrowly missed gold in the women’s –57kg final, settling for silver against England’s Acelya Toprak after a tense golden score battle.

India’s final tally of two golds and one silver marked its best‑ever performance in judo at the Games, surpassing previous editions where medals came but never gold.
