Torrential rains in Nuapada district have led to the collapse of the boundary wall of the SP’s residence, exposing the premises to the national highway and raising security concerns.
The residence of SP Amritpal Singh, located opposite National Highway‑353 in Shivashakti Nagar, saw nearly 20 meters of the protective wall washed away. Police personnel rushed to the spot to tighten security after the collapse left the building vulnerable.
Meanwhile, in Kalamkata village under Budhikomna panchayat, floodwaters entered nearly 20–25 houses, forcing the administration to evacuate residents. Thirty‑five people were rescued and shifted to Budhikomna Primary School, where they are being provided food and shelter.
Local residents said no senior officials had yet visited the shelter, though relief arrangements were promised. Rescue operations remain ongoing as rainfall continues to lash the district.
Authorities confirmed that monitoring has been intensified, with police and local administration coordinating relief efforts to ensure safety in flood‑hit areas.
