A man was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Odisha’s Balasore district after returning home to surprise his wife on her birthday, prompting a police investigation into allegations of murder.
The incident, reported from the Sahadevkhunta police station area, has drawn attention after the deceased’s family accused his wife and her alleged lover of being involved in his death. Police have not confirmed the allegations and are investigating the case from multiple angles.
Body Found Under Suspicious Circumstances
According to preliminary reports, the man, a resident of Jagatsinghpur district, had come home to celebrate his wife’s birthday.
Later, he was found dead inside the house under suspicious circumstances, triggering concern among family members and local residents.
Investigators are yet to determine the exact sequence of events leading to his death.
Family Alleges Murder
The deceased’s family has alleged that the man’s wife, along with her alleged lover, was responsible for his death.
The victim’s brother, Pabitra Kumar Sethi, claimed that he was informed the man had died by suicide after returning home for his sister-in-law’s birthday.
“It was my sister-in-law’s birthday a day earlier. My brother came home to wish her. Later, I received a call from my sister-in-law’s brother informing me that my brother had died by suicide,” Sethi alleged.
Police have not verified these claims, and the allegations remain under investigation.
Police Register FIR, Await Post-Mortem Report
Police have registered an FIR based on the complaint lodged by the deceased’s family and have begun a detailed investigation.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, which is expected to help determine the exact cause of death.
Sahadevkhunta Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Alok Kumar Behera said the family has accused the deceased’s wife of murder, but the cause of death will be confirmed only after the autopsy report and further investigation.
Investigation Underway
Police said they are examining all available evidence and questioning those connected to the case.
Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation, noting that the investigation is ongoing and the exact circumstances surrounding the death will become clear after forensic and medical findings are received.
