A minor mishap occurred during the Rath Yatra of Lord Baladevjew in Kendrapada when the Brahma Taladhwaja chariot unexpectedly climbed onto a roadside cabin while being pulled by devotees.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened amid heavy crowds as the massive chariot swerved slightly off course. No major injuries were reported, though the cabin sustained damage. Police and temple authorities quickly intervened to restore order and resume the chariot‑pulling.
The Rath Yatra of Baladevjew, popularly known as the Tulasi Khetra Rath Yatra, is one of the most significant festivals in Kendrapada, drawing thousands of devotees. Despite the brief disruption, the atmosphere remained devotional, with chants of “Jai Jagannath” and “Haribol” echoing through the town.
Officials assured that safety measures have been reinforced to prevent further incidents during the ongoing festival.
