Tension gripped Baleshwar court premises today after a bomb threat email, written in Tamil, was received at the office of the District and Sessions Judge around 2:05 PM.
The message warned of an explosion, sparking immediate panic among lawyers, staff, and visitors.
Court proceedings were halted as people rushed out of the premises. Police quickly cordoned off the area, deploying sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads to conduct thorough searches. Entry into the court complex was restricted while teams combed the premises for suspicious objects.
The incident follows similar threats recently reported at Anugul and Sambalpur courts, raising concerns about coordinated attempts to disrupt judicial institutions in Odisha. Authorities are investigating the origin of the email and whether the threats are linked.
Heavy police deployment remains in place to ensure safety and restore calm. Officials assured that all necessary precautions are being taken to protect the court and its occupants.
