Actor Gauahar Khan has once again reacted to Argentina’s controversial FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 victory over Egypt, taking another swipe at football icon Lionel Messi amid the ongoing debate over the match’s officiating.
The latest reaction comes after the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) lodged an official complaint with FIFA, raising concerns over key refereeing decisions and the use of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during Argentina’s dramatic 3-2 comeback win.
Gauahar Khan shares parody video targeting Messi
On her Instagram Stories, Gauahar reposted a viral parody reel that mocked Messi’s performance during the match. The satirical video featured actors recreating moments from the game, including exaggerated scenes in which a player appeared to score using his hands and another sequence poking fun at the referee’s decisions.
Sharing the clip, Gauahar wrote:
“Hahahahahah! On point!”
The post quickly drew attention on social media, adding to the ongoing discussion surrounding the high-profile World Cup fixture.

Earlier remarks on Messi sparked debate
A day earlier, Gauahar had also criticised the Argentine captain, describing his on-field theatrics in a social media post.
She wrote:
“What a loser, messy not Messi. Actor of the saddest order.”
Her comments came after Egypt’s elimination from the tournament triggered widespread reactions from fans, former players and football observers over several controversial moments during the match.
Why Egypt has challenged the officiating
Egypt’s frustration centres around two major decisions during the Round of 16 clash.
The first involved Mostafa Ziko’s goal, which was ruled out following a VAR review after officials identified a foul in the build-up.
The second came late in the match when Egyptian players appealed for a penalty after Hamdy Fathy went down inside the penalty area. The appeal was waved away, and Argentina went on to score the decisive goal moments later.
Following the defeat, the Egyptian Football Association reportedly submitted an official complaint against French referee Francois Letexier and his officiating team.
In its statement, the federation said it could not remain silent over what it described as questionable refereeing decisions and the improper use of the VAR system.
Controversy continues after Argentina advances
Argentina’s dramatic victory secured a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals, but the officiating remains a major talking point.
While FIFA has defended the integrity of its referees and the application of VAR protocols, reactions from players, officials, celebrities and supporters continue to fuel discussion around one of the tournament’s most controversial matches.
