In a decisive move to future-proof governance, the Odisha Cabinet today approved the establishment of the Odisha State Data Centre 2.0 (OSDC 2.0), marking a transformative upgrade in the state’s digital infrastructure.
The existing State Data Centre, operational since 2011, has been the backbone of e-governance in Odisha, successfully hosting more than 600 government applications across 39 departments. However, with surging digital demands, the ageing infrastructure has reached its capacity limits and is nearing the end of its service life.
OSDC 2.0 will change the game. Designed as a Tier-III compliant, secure, scalable and fully state-owned facility, the new data centre is built to meet the rapidly evolving needs of digital governance in Odisha. It will serve as a robust, high-availability platform for critical government services well into the future.
The ambitious project goes far beyond a simple upgrade. It includes complete migration of existing applications, significant enhancement of cyber security measures, and the creation of a state-of-the-art Disaster Recovery facility. These measures will ensure uninterrupted delivery of essential services even during disruptions, giving citizens greater confidence in digital governance.
In line with global sustainability goals, OSDC 2.0 will adopt green and energy-efficient practices, making it both technologically advanced and environmentally responsible.
The total approved outlay for the project — covering establishment as well as operation and maintenance for five years — stands at ₹268.44 crore.
