Prisoner Dies in Jharapada Jail

A 55-year-old prisoner named Jaban Nayak died inside Jharapada Jail in Bhubaneswar on Monday morning. He hailed from Tarini Basti and was serving imprisonment in connection with dacoity and murder cases.


Reports said Nayak ate dinner and went to sleep on Sunday night. Jail staff checked on him when he did not wake up the next morning and found him unresponsive. They rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Nayak had been suffering from multiple health issues. Jail authorities informed his family and initiated necessary procedures. Officials confirmed that the exact cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination.
