With the Muharram festival just a day away, the Odisha Police has rolled out comprehensive security arrangements across the state to ensure the celebrations on June 26 remain peaceful, disciplined, and filled with the spirit of brotherhood.

In a proactive move, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania chaired a high-level virtual review meeting at the State Police Headquarters today to assess preparedness and issue clear directives for maintaining law and order during the festival.

DGP Khurania directed all police officers to intensify patrolling across every district and deploy additional forces at sensitive locations with proper briefing. Special security plans have been prepared for identified vulnerable areas, drawing lessons from past incidents to ensure heightened vigilance.

To prevent misinformation from disrupting harmony, the police will run round-the-clock cyber patrolling on social media platforms. Strict action has been assured against those spreading rumours or provocative content.

The DGP also emphasised coordination with local peace committees and community leaders to foster mutual understanding and cooperation for smooth observance of the festival.

All District Superintendents of Police have been advised to stay fully prepared for any emergency and maintain strong coordination with local administration and the public.

The virtual meeting was attended by Additional DGP (Law & Order) Shri Sanjay Kumar, DIGP (Provisioning) Shri Charan Singh Mina, along with all Range IG/DIGs and District SPs.
