In a swift crackdown, Mahila police on Tuesday arrested a 38-year-old coaching tutor for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl student in Bhubaneswar.
The accused, Niranjan Mishra of Jajpur Town, was running a coaching centre near Chakeisihani Mangala Temple. He had been staying at Plot No. 3273 in the Chakeisihani area under Mancheswar police station limits.
The minor girl reportedly informed her family about the alleged abuse. The family immediately approached Mahila Thana and lodged a complaint. Police recorded the victim’s statement and sent her for medical examination as per protocol.
Acting on the complaint, a police team carried out a raid in the Chakeisihani area and arrested Mishra. He was produced before the court the same day.
Senior police officials said the accused is being interrogated to ascertain whether anyone else was involved. A detailed investigation is underway, and the charge sheet will be filed at the earliest.
