In a major show of efficiency and sharp policing, the Kabisuryanagar Police in Ganjam district cracked a daring armed robbery case at Icon Farm House near Gokulpalli and arrested all seven accused within just 24 hours of the crime.
Acting on the directions of Ganjam Superintendent of Police Harish Bisi and under the direct supervision of Purushottampur SDPO, a special team comprising officers from Kabisuryanagar and Polasara police stations swung into swift action. The team not only nabbed the culprits but also recovered the looted items, cash, and the weapon used in the crime.
The Crime
Six miscreants forcibly entered the farmhouse of Rajani Kant Mishra in Gokulpalli village. Brandishing a firearm, they tied up his wife and looted approximately 150 gms of gold ornaments, ₹12,000 in cash, and two mobile phones before fleeing.
A case was registered as FIR No. 407/26. The police scientific team immediately reached the spot and collected vital evidence.
Masterminds and Quick Arrests
Police sources revealed that Santosh Mahapatra and Manoranjan Gouda, who knew the victim through prior relations, hatched the plan and roped in other accomplices. Acting on a reliable tip-off, the police conducted a targeted raid in the jungle area near Kankana Dei Mandir and arrested seven accused:

- Shubham Rout
- Jitendra Khatei
- Dutikrushna Nayak
- Manoranjan Gouda
- Santosh Mahapatra
- Rajib Kumar Das
Huge Recovery
From the possession of the accused, police seized looted silver ornaments, ₹12,500 in cash, mobile phones, two motorcycles, and a country-made pistol along with three live rounds. Jitendra Khatei confessed to using the firearm during the robbery and led police to the recovery of the pistol and ammunition.
Two other accused — Hitesh Swain and Sweta Khatei — are still absconding. Police have intensified efforts to nab them. All seven arrested accused have been produced before the court.
Ganjam SP Harish Bisi confirmed the successful operation and lauded the team for their prompt and professional handling of the case.
