Miscreants fired nearly 25 rounds at the residence of Diptirekha Nanda, Block Chairperson of Binika block in Subarnapur district, late Friday night.
The attack occurred at her house in Singiyuba village under Binika block. No one inside the house sustained injuries, but bullets struck two cars parked inside and outside the premises, causing visible damage.
Diptirekha’s husband, Ashok Nanda, serves as the District President of Youth BJD and previously held the position of Block Chairman. The motive behind the late-night firing remains unclear.
Police registered a case and reached the spot soon after the incident. Officers examined CCTV footage from nearby areas and began intensive investigations to identify the attackers and determine the reason behind the shooting.
