The Government of Odisha announced a major relief for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 by reducing stamp duty and registration charges to less than one per cent for houses up to 60 square meters.
According to an official communication from the Housing and Urban Development Department, the State Cabinet approved the proposal in its 41st meeting. The decision aims to make home ownership more affordable for low-income families living in urban areas.
Additional Chief Secretary Smt. Usha Padhee directed the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to publish the notification and implement the revised rates immediately. The new order will significantly reduce the financial burden on beneficiaries registering their houses under PMAY-U 2.0.
Officials said the move reflects the government’s commitment to promoting inclusive urban development and supporting economically weaker sections. The reduction in stamp duty and registration fees will encourage more beneficiaries to complete property registration and secure legal ownership of their homes.
The Housing and Urban Development Department will forward the notification to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, after publication.
