In a major success against Left Wing Extremism, Rayagada Police recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, explosives and Maoist supplies from a concealed dump in the Dhepagurha Reserve Forest area under Jagadalpur OP of Ambadola Police Station.
Acting on specific information obtained through sustained interrogation of surrendered Maoists, teams from the District Volunteer Force (DVF) and Special Operations Group (SOG) launched a search operation in the forest area.
The District Bomb Disposal Squad, Rayagada, carried out a systematic search of the dump sites, taking all necessary precautions to rule out the presence of IEDs.On June 13, 2026, the teams successfully recovered the following items belonging to the Maoists:
- One .303 rifle with 37 rounds of ammunition and one magazine
- Cordex wire (8 metres), approximately 50 grams of gun powder and five bundles of Codex
- Two Maoist literatures
- Other items including plastic chappals, umbrellas, blankets, hair oil, knives, salt, sugar, tea and Amul packets, civil T-shirts, combs, soaps and Dettol bottles, along with empty 12-bore cartridges, pouches and charger clips.
The recovered weapons, explosives and incriminating materials have been seized. Between January 2025 and March 31, 2026, a total of 16 Maoists surrendered before Rayagada Police, including State Committee Member Nikhil and Indu.
Combing and search operations by SOG, DVF and CRPF teams are being conducted regularly in the area to detect and recover hidden Maoist arms and materials, with the objective of preventing any resurgence of Maoist activity in the district.
