Authorities in Barbil, Keonjhar, launched a fresh bulldozer action against criminals occupying government land. The operation flattened houses belonging to three accused involved in multiple criminal cases.
Officials demolished the residence of MD Rohit in Ward No. 1, Nalda Hirakud Colony, who faced six criminal cases. He had constructed his house illegally on government property. Similarly, MD Tofiq from Ward No. 9, Barkat Nagar, had five cases registered against him and had encroached on public land for his home. Another accused’s house was also reduced to rubble during the drive.
The Barbil municipal administration confirmed that the demolition targeted structures used for criminal activities and built without authorisation. Officials emphasised that offenders exploiting government land will face strict action.
This marks the second major crackdown in Barbil. In November last year, authorities demolished four houses belonging to criminals involved in similar offences.
