Authorities exposed a shocking case of cheating during the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) preliminary examination in Cuttack.
Invigilators caught candidate Avinash Rout using a mobile phone concealed inside his undergarment with an earphone connected.
Suspicion arose when Avinash repeatedly read questions aloud during the test at a centre in the CDA area. On verification, officials discovered he was communicating with accomplices outside the centre. Police arrested Avinash immediately and seized the hidden device.
Investigators revealed that three associates, identified as Soumyaranjan Sahu, Alex, and Rupesh, assisted him from nearby locations in CDA and Badambadi. They dictated answers over the phone while Avinash relayed questions. Police later traced their involvement through the seized mobile phone and arrested all four individuals.
Avinash works as a supervisor with an outsourcing agency at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. His arrest shocked many, as aspirants prepare rigorously for the prestigious OCS examination. The malpractice highlighted growing concerns about unfair means in competitive tests.
Officials emphasised strict monitoring and vigilance at exam centres to prevent similar incidents. The arrests underscored the seriousness of cheating attempts and the determination of authorities to safeguard the integrity of the examination process.
