Odisha Vigilance recorded extraordinary cash seizures in the last two years, exposing massive corruption among government officials.
On June 6, 2026, searches on Baikuntha Nath Behera, Assistant Executive Engineer of ITDA Baliguda, Kandhamal, revealed Rs 2.04 crore in cash. Just months earlier, on February 24–25, 2026, Vigilance teams seized Rs 4,28,33,600 from Debabrata Mohanty, Deputy Director of Mines, Cuttack Circle. This remains the highest ever cash seizure in Odisha Vigilance history against a mining officer.
On December 30, 2025, raids on Jitendra Kumar Panda, Additional Tahasildar of Baranga, Cuttack, led to the recovery of Rs 73.66 lakh. The same year, on July 25, 2025, Vigilance seized Rs 1.43 crore from Rama Chandra Nepak, Deputy Ranger of Jeypore Forest Range, Koraput.
Earlier, on May 30, 2025, searches on Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer of Plan Roads, RW Department, Bhubaneswar, uncovered Rs 2.56 crore. On February 6, 2025, Vigilance seized Rs 2.08 crore from Santanu Mohapatra, Deputy Director and Project Director of Watershed, Malkangiri.
These major cash seizures highlight Odisha Vigilance’s relentless drive against disproportionate assets and corruption. The crackdown demonstrates the agency’s commitment to accountability and transparency in public service.
