Police recovered the mutilated body of Kailash Pradhan, a 60‑year‑old resident of Olanda Sargaon village, from a forest under Sadar police limits in Balasore district on Sunday.
Women collecting firewood discovered the decomposed remains and alerted the police. Officers from Sadar police station reached the spot and secured the area. Locals suspect a planned murder because body parts and bones lay scattered across the forest.
Police deployed personnel to guard the site and summoned a scientific team and a special squad to collect forensic evidence. Investigators began questioning villagers to trace the circumstances behind Pradhan’s disappearance and death.
