Following the successful conclusion of the Second BRICS Technical Meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Working Group in Puri, NDMA Members Dr. Krishna S. Vatsa and Rita Missal, along with Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, called on Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg at Lok Seva Bhawan today.
During the meeting, NDMA officials briefed the Chief Secretary on the key deliberations and outcomes of the BRICS DRR sessions. Chief Secretary Garg appreciated the smooth organisation of the international event and reaffirmed Odisha’s commitment to strengthening disaster resilience through robust preparedness, effective response mechanisms, and adoption of global best practices.
She highlighted Odisha’s internationally recognised achievements in disaster management, particularly cyclone preparedness, early warning dissemination, and community participation. Garg emphasised that these efforts have earned Odisha national and global recognition as a model state in disaster risk reduction.
