PV Sindhu exited the Indonesia Open 2026 after losing to world No. 1 An Se‑Young in straight sets, 21‑17, 21‑15, at Jakarta’s Istora Gelora Bung Karno.

Sindhu entered the pre‑quarterfinals with momentum after defeating Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan. Against An Se‑Young, she showed determination in the opening set, trailing narrowly at 14‑13. However, the South Korean star raised her intensity and closed the set with sharp defence and precise control.

In the second set, An seized an early lead and maintained dominance throughout. Sindhu attempted aggressive rallies and displayed flashes of attacking play, but An’s composure and defensive mastery kept her ahead. The Indian champion struggled to break through as An dictated the pace and secured a convincing win.
