Patna witnessed high drama after a violent clash outside the coaching institute of popular educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, led to the arrest of three people, including the director of a rival coaching centre.
According to police, the incident took place on Tuesday night in the Kadamkuan area of Patna, where a group allegedly attacked the premises of Khan Global Studies, leaving a security guard injured and triggering protests by students.
Rival Coaching Director Arrested
Police identified the arrested individuals as Roshan Anand, director of Gyan Bindu Coaching Institute, along with Prince Gaurav and Abhishek. All three were produced before a local court and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.
Investigators are examining whether competition between coaching institutes played a role in the attack. Authorities said additional suspects have been identified and further arrests may follow.
What Happened at Khan Sir’s Institute?
Speaking after the incident, Khan Sir alleged that the attackers vandalised property, assaulted the security guard and opened fire outside the institute.
“We were inside while classes were going on. The guard could not understand what was happening initially,” he said.
However, police have disputed claims of gunfire. Officials stated that the injured guard suffered wounds during brick-batting and that no evidence of firing has been confirmed so far.
Police Investigation Underway
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police K Sharma said the case is being investigated as an assault incident.
“It was a case of physical assault in which a guard was injured. He is undergoing treatment. Statements of the victim and local residents are being recorded,” Sharma said.
Patna City SP Diksha confirmed that CCTV footage from the area is being examined. Preliminary findings suggest that rivalry among coaching institutes may have contributed to the clash.
“So far, 10 to 12 suspects have been identified,” the officer said.
Students Demand Action
Following the attack, large numbers of students gathered outside the coaching centre and demanded strict action against those responsible. Many expressed concern over safety and security around educational institutions.
The protest drew significant public attention, with students urging authorities to ensure such incidents do not recur.
Political Reactions
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha assured that the accused would face strict legal action.
“The criminals will be caught. Strong action will be taken under the NDA government in Bihar,” he said.
As the investigation continues, police are analysing CCTV footage, questioning witnesses and examining possible links between the accused and the alleged attack.
The incident has once again highlighted the intense competition within Bihar’s coaching industry and raised concerns about maintaining a safe learning environment for students.
