Tension erupted in Kuanraswara village near Satashankha under Pipili block of Puri district after a house was set ablaze during a violent clash between two families late Thursday night.
Reports said the families had argued earlier in the day, and the quarrel escalated by night. Members of one family allegedly torched the rival’s bamboo-and-plastic house, built on government land near a temple. The structure had long been a source of friction in the locality.
Fortunately, all members of the affected family escaped unharmed. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene and doused the flames before they spread further.
Police confirmed that four persons were detained for questioning after a complaint was lodged. Investigators are probing the long-standing enmity that triggered the attack.
