In a major boost for job aspirants in Odisha, the state government has approved the recruitment of 7,664 posts in police and uniformed services.
The recruitment drive will be conducted through the Odisha Uniformed Services Staff Selection Commission (OUSSSC), according to an official notification issued by the Home Department on Tuesday.
The large-scale hiring initiative is expected to strengthen law enforcement across the state while creating thousands of employment opportunities for youth preparing for government jobs.
Odisha Police Recruitment 2026: Vacancy Details
As per the official communication, the approved vacancies include multiple categories in the Odisha Police and allied uniformed services.
Here is the category-wise breakup of posts:
- Civil Constable: 4,219 posts
- OISF Constable: 2,212 posts
- Sub-Inspector (SI) and Equivalent Ranks: 933 posts
- Constable (Communication): 300 posts
Among these, Civil Constable vacancies form the largest share of the recruitment drive.
OUSSSC to Conduct Recruitment Process
The Odisha government has officially assigned OUSSSC the responsibility of conducting recruitment examinations for:
- Constable
- OISF Constable
- Constable (Communication)
- SI and equivalent ranks
Earlier, recruitment for Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts was handled by the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB). However, the latest Home Department order states that the responsibility has now been shifted to OUSSSC due to administrative reasons.
The official letter was signed by Deputy Secretary Tarun Kumar Panda.
Relief for Existing Applicants
The government has clarified that candidates who had previously applied for SI and equivalent posts under the earlier recruitment process will remain eligible.
According to the notification, all eligible applicants from the earlier recruitment cycle will be allowed to participate in the fresh recruitment process conducted by OUSSSC.
The Odisha Police Recruitment Board has also been directed to transfer all application forms and related data to OUSSSC to ensure a smooth and faster recruitment process.
