Simanchal Moharana, a postal employee serving in the Asika postal division, received the prestigious International Best Film Dialogue Writer Award at the Reels International Film Festival.
The ceremony took place on May 17 at the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Research Centre in Aurangabad.
Moharana earned the honour for his dialogue writing in the short film Adamy, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Krishna DK under the DK Films banner. The film highlights the folk art traditions of Ganjam district and has gained recognition across global platforms.
The festival featured participation from over 1,500 films representing 65 countries, including the United States, France, Russia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Australia, England, Canada, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Greece, South Korea, Spain, and more. Judges included Indian filmmaker and editor Runa Laila, French actress Adri Kyoturi, Egyptian director Mahmud‑Mahmud, Portuguese filmmaker Carlos Coelho Costa, and Filipino actor Gerald Yumawan.
Guests of honour at the event included Miss Asia World winner Gayatri Rohankar, Miss Nepal winner Nitu Koirala, and filmmaker Runa Laila. Maharana has previously won four international awards for story writing and screenwriting at festivals in Africa and India. His latest recognition has drawn praise from the postal department and intellectual circles in Asika.
