Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the government’s steadfast efforts in combating Naxalism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Addressing a recent gathering, he emphasized the Central Government’s “ruthless approach” as part of the ongoing ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ (Naxal-Free India Campaign).

In a major breakthrough, security forces eliminated 22 Naxalites in twin operations conducted in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur and Kanker districts. The government reiterated its firm zero-tolerance stance against Naxalites who resist surrender, despite robust rehabilitation offers.
Highlighting progress in 2025, Shah noted:
- 90 Naxalites neutralized,
- 104 apprehended, and
- 164 voluntarily surrendered.
The statistics reflect a significant decline in Naxal-related incidents over the past decade. Compared to the 2004-2014 period, incidents of violence have dropped by 53%, fatalities among security personnel by 73%, and civilian casualties by 70% under the Modi-led administration from 2014 to 2024.
Additionally, the number of districts classified as Naxal-affected has plunged from 126 in 2014 to just 12 in 2024. Investments in fortified police stations and security camps have played a pivotal role in achieving these milestones.
The Home Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely eradicate Naxalism and ensure peace and development in affected regions.
