In a swift and decisive operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested five key accused and conducted searches at multiple locations across Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra in connection with the alleged irregularities and paper leak in the NEET UG-2026 examination.
The case was registered on 12 May 2026 following a formal complaint from the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The FIR invokes serious charges — criminal conspiracy, cheating, criminal breach of trust, provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
The five arrested persons are:
- Shubham Khairnar (Nashik)
- Mangilal Biwal (Jaipur)
- Vikas Biwal (Jaipur)
- Dinesh Biwal (Jaipur)
- Yash Yadav (Gurugram)
During the raids, the CBI recovered several incriminating materials, including mobile phones and electronic devices believed to contain critical evidence. The agency is now coordinating closely with the Special Operations Group (SOG), Rajasthan, which had earlier conducted a preliminary enquiry into the matter.
“Several other suspects are being examined. Based on emerging leads, further searches and investigative actions are underway,” the CBI said in a statement. The agency has vowed to leave no stone unturned, relying on extensive technical and forensic analysis to uncover the full extent of the alleged racket.
The development has sent shockwaves through the student community, as NEET UG remains the single gateway for admissions to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses across the country. Parents and aspirants have repeatedly demanded fool-proof security for these high-stakes examinations, and the CBI’s prompt action is being seen as a strong signal that the government is serious about restoring credibility to the system.
The probe is still in its early stages, but the swift arrests and seizures indicate that investigators have already made significant breakthroughs. More arrests and revelations are expected in the coming days.
