A family quarrel in Sundargarh’s Koida area escalated into tragedy when a man was beaten to death with a wooden stick.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening in Sargiguda Munda Sahi village after a community feast.
Reports said Mansi Munda and his wife Roimuni began arguing at home. Their brother-in-law, Sadhu Munda, tried to intervene and calm the situation. During the altercation, Mansi attacked Sadhu with a wooden stick.
Witnesses said neighbour Roi Munda arrived at the scene, snatched the stick from Mansi, and struck Sadhu on the head. Sadhu collapsed, bleeding heavily, and died at the spot.
Police investigations revealed prior enmity between Sadhu and Roi, which likely fueled the violence. Koida Police reached the scene Friday morning, detained Roi Munda, and began interrogation. A scientific team examined the site for evidence.
Authorities also detained Roimuni Munda for questioning. Police registered Case No. 115/26 at Koida station based on Roimuni’s statement. Further investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the killing.
