The first-ever Asia Pacific Postal Leaders Forum commenced today in Jaipur, with Ms. Vandita Kaul, Secretary (Posts), inaugurating the event.

The three-day forum, running from March 19 to 21, serves as a platform for collaboration and innovation in the postal sector across the Asia-Pacific region.

In her opening address, Ms. Kaul emphasized India’s commitment to strengthening the global postal network. She highlighted the role of technology, improved logistics, and enhanced last-mile connectivity in better serving communities. The forum underscores India’s focus on fostering regional cooperation and advancing the postal ecosystem.

The Secretary General of the Asian Pacific Postal Union, Mr. Vinaya Prakash Singh, also addressed the gathering, discussing the pivotal role of the Asia-Pacific region in reshaping postal services. Key discussions on the inaugural day included South-South and triangular cooperation, India’s contributions through the UN development fund, and the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme. These initiatives aim to boost capacity building and skill development in the postal sector.

The forum’s agenda covers diverse topics such as financial inclusion through postal financial services, strengthening postal networks, and leveraging technology like drones for innovative delivery solutions. India Post’s IT modernization efforts, including the introduction of the Digital Address Code, were also highlighted.

Over the next two days, the forum will host discussions on cross-border e-commerce, advanced logistics solutions, and the role of postal networks in delivering government and social services to rural areas. Delegates will also participate in a field visit to rural areas to witness digital government services through postal networks and explore the Postal Fair/Dak Panchayat.

The event marks a significant step towards a more integrated and forward-thinking postal network in the Asia-Pacific region. Stay tuned for updates on this evolving story.
